About janesse
Janesse has been a creative her entire life, using different mediums to express herself from a young age. At age 2, she began dancing, and lived a life on stage or on set. She danced her way into a sculpture and design class in 2007, where her love for soldering and metalsmithing began. For over ten years, she has been making jewelry and utilizing this art form as a therapeutic practice.
Janesse has dual degrees from the University of California, Berkeley- where she studied both Media Studies and Social Welfare. She has now followed her dreams and moved to New York, where she is currently a Masters Candidate and Research Assistant at Columbia University. Janesse blends her creativity with her study focus, which is empowering others to heal from trauma, addiction and eating disorders. Her jewelry design is used as a way to ground and heal herself, in addition to aiding others in their healing journey through crystal work and mindfulness.
About janesse russel
The namesake of this brand comes from the joining of two powerful forces: Janesse, and her late brother Russel. Thomas William Russel Tirey passed away suddenly in 2015, and what better way to commemorate his memory than to have him be the inspiration behind every handmade piece. Russel always pushed Janesse to go after her goals, and by honoring him with her designs Janesse feels as though she is keeping his spark alive. Her motivation derives from his presence, and now… every day and every design begins and ends with his name.
